A winning streak...

To avoid writing about the shift to Wellington (which I haven't quite gotten my head around yet) I want to tell you instead about a little winning streak that's been going on.  I’ve been a very lucky crafty girl.

Although they weren't a prize as such I’ve received 4 ornaments in the Christmas Swap and I hear the last one arrived in Christchurch yesterday. Here they are for your viewing pleasure:

I won a raffle on Saturday night at my friends volunteer organization – the raffle prize included a voucher for a consultation with an image consultant, wine, chocolates and a handmade ornament. As luck would have it my friend Amy who made the ornament also drew my name in the ‘In Stitches’ ornament swap so now I have two of these. Apparently the butterfly is a symbol for change (which may help to explain my 16 year old self’s choice of tattoo – thankfully discretely placed!) and also a fitting symbol for this time in my life.

And as if the luck wasn’t going well enough, I also won this darling little angel from Julie at Dreaming of Daisies. As I said to Julie, I’m not usually one to go in for really girly things but this cheeky little angel really captured my imagination. I’m having Julie send her up to Wellington – she looks like she’ll be good company for these turbulent new job / pre-Christmas / separated from loved ones days.

The Wellington visit that was...

I'm always a bit twitchy about posting with no pictures. My thinking generally is that the pretty pictures will distract you from my average writing abilities... but this post shall be sans-picture!

I've been in Wellington for 3.5 days and I've accomplished a lot. I found a place to live, I brought a new bed and linen, I visited and delivered Christmas presents to my Wellington stockists, I went to the work Christmas party, I recovered from the work Christmas party, I helped choose (read: railroaded the decision on) paint colours and furniture for our new office, and I let my moods swung constantly and passionately between feeling like the move to Wellington is the best decision I ever made and sitting head in hands asking myself what the heck have I done. Apparently this behaviour is natural given the circumstances.

I came home to all but one of my handmade ornaments for the Christmas ornament swap - I'll post a picture when no. 5 arrives. I'm so impressed with the quality and originality of all the creations and also the effort everyone put into specially gift wrapping their ornaments - one even included a chocolate Santa! Thanks Jasmine!

Now I have a lot of blog reading to catch up on as well - from a quick squiz at some of my favourites I can see that a lot can happen in 3.5 days -  and not just when you're moving cities.

Christmas has arrived at our place.

Mr. Pink Paper Pinafore is possibly the world's most enthusiastic boy over the age of 10 when it comes to Christmas and Christmas decorations - everything you are about to see has been purchased by him. I'm mostly scared of Christmas decorations because of the 'Made in China' warning but his excitement rubbed off enough last year for me to start the nut cracker collection.

To illustrate my point here's an image of one little Christmas themed corner of the house complete with singing, dancing Santas. (I'll spare you the jingles).

Before it was even December the tree and the decorations had been collected from the storage unit and they waited patiently in the corner of the apartment until this weekend when we put them up. As much as I love to mock I do like our tree very much. It's hard to tell but there are actually decorations on there other than metallic balls.
